Huili Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Southernmost Sichuan. The Huili Gr was named by Xie Zhenxi et al. in 1964. The type locality is around Huili, Sichuan Province. The group, which belongs to Neoproterozoic Erathem, was subdivided into 6 formations from bottom to top as Hekou-Huili Fm, Tong'an Fm, Tangtang Fm, Limahe Fm, Fengshanying Fm and Tianbaoshan Fm. [Tianbaoshan Fm is not in current Lexicon] Hekou-Huili Fm has an appended "huili" to avoid duplication with "hekou" of Permian age.

Lithology and Thickness
In the type locality, it is composed of metamorphosed clastic rock and carbonate rock, intercalated with volcanic rock. [See component formations for details.] The total thickness varies from 15840 m to 16780 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The contact relation with underlying Kangding Complex Gr (Paleoproterozoic) is unknown.
Upper contact
The top is unconformably overlain by either the Doushantuo Fm or the Dengying Fm (Sinian/Ediacaran). Elsewhere in south Sichuan, the schematic stratigraphic column implies the overlying unit is the Lieguliu Fm volcanics of Nanhuan age (middle Cryogenian).
